Rod, I did get the brochures on the 254y Hardy tractor.They even sent out a vidio.I've been looking for 2 months,did alot of research,& ended up buying a Mitsubishi 4x4 with new Bush Hog loader,3 point hitch,4 speed pto,9 speed, 4 cylinder diesel, 633 hours on it. Bought it 4-9-99 for 6300.00 delivered,it was only 20 miles away.Put 6 hours on it over the week end,pulling stumps,digging stumps,moving wet dirt in garden & graded my drive way.I think its around 22-25 HP.Runs great.I think I got a deal.I would not buy one with over 1500 hours on it.As far as China made tractors I also looked into Task Master.I would go that route before Hardy.Like I said I did alot of research & there is alot of BS out there.What finally made me jump was a comment made by a co-worker: If it's not what you want,or junk,put it on the auction.I've seen people at auctions looking at 4x4 compact tractors.It's like bees protecting the nest.Bootom line,you can get very good used if you look around,& I also checked into parts & manuals.No problem if you look.The inter net was my biggest source of info.There is even tractor clubs,for the brand you buy,become a member & instead of just you out there all alone you will find there are many with the same tractor you will get & its a easy way to get answers if you run into a problem.
